Snowy day

It's snowing here today, and we have a delayed opening at work. That is exciting. I am still catching up from my brief business trip to San Juan. You know, laundry, putting the sandals back in their bin until they can come out in May, that kind of stuff.

And, it's Wednesday already! I'm looking forward to a great weekend...
I am attending a fundraiser for the HS baseball team in my town. I was invited by a friend whose sons play on the team. Should be fun. At a local pub in town that I've actually never been to.
Then on Saturday evening I get to spend some time with friends at a housewarming party.
Sunday morning I will see my client for a coaching session and then off to NYC to attend a Superbowl Party. Now, I was a cheerleader for years in Jr. High and High School, yet, I still don't quite get football. I did participate in two football pools...so I'm hoping to get lucky!

Have a great Wednesday! Enjoy the rest of your week. Any weekend plans you are looking forward to?

Oh, and one more thing...Happy Birthday Amanda! If you are reading this, have a great day. xo xo

I got goosebumps

I just "you-tubed" Barack and Michelle's first dance, in which they danced to a rendition of Etta James' At Last performed by Beyonce. OH MY!

First of all, they both looked great. I think they are just good looking people to begin with. I wasn't too keen on Michelle's outfit for the inauguration ceremonies and parade during the day. I felt the gold wasn't a good color for her, and I thought she should have worn a beautiful winter coat. Anyway, she looked pretty in her gown for the ball(s) last night.

The dance...so beautiful. The song was a great choice and performed so nicely by Beyonce. But they just seem so unbelievably happy. Not just happy because of the amazing celebration, but happy together as a married couple. They connect. They communicate. They are so in tune with one another. It is simple. It is divine. It is wonderful. Just had to share my thoughts.

Congratulations to our new President, Barack H. Obama. I look forward to what is in store for us as Americans and follow and support the theme of HOPE for our future.

time

Do you use your time wisely? Are you productive? Do you cherish the time you have with loved ones?

Far too often, I hear people say that you can't turn back time, time is precious, time is money (that's a funny one, yet true), and they wish they had more time with someone.

If you could spend 20-minutes of your day, any way you wanted to, what would you do...?

snowy day inspiration

It's snowing here on Long Island today. We have decided to spend the evening watching tv, sitting around the fire sipping green tea, and enjoying some relaxation. It's very nice, I must say.

I am in the process of creating my vision board and I came across one of the American express ads. You know the one with Ellen DeGeneres playing cards with the dog. Well, the dog is a border collie, and I have a border collie, Auto. Yes, my dog's name is Auto. My dad named him and it is a perfect, unique name for my dog. Anyway, I love the ad! So I was inspired to answer the questions in the ad. Here goes...

my name ... Paige
childhood ambition ...to be a dance teacher, to be on tv
fondest memory ... I have this great memory of when my sister and I were younger. My parents took us out of school for the day and we went into Manhattan to see the Christmas show. Then we went back to our hotel room, which was a suite and watched Dirty Dancing and jumped on the bed. Call it funny or weird, but it's my memory.
indulgence ... expensive hairspray, facials
last purchase ... birthday gift for my sister
favorite movie ... I have a few, PS I Love You, The Holiday, Sex and the City, Patch Adams, Pay it Forward
inspiration ... helping others
my life ... is pretty interesting and fun right now. I am happy.
my card ... Teachers Federal Credit Union debit card. Sorry, I don't have an Amex. And, I'm trying to pay off my credit card debt and not use the plastic this year. Go me!

So...here is my Auto.

It's off to work I go...

Well, some will say it is tragic that the break has come to an end and it's time to head back to work. Me, on the other hand, I'm looking forward to it. I feel well rested, relaxed and rejuvenated.

I so enjoyed my break (12 days!) from work, but I feel ready to go back. I am looking forward to catching up with work friends, getting ready for the class I am teaching beginning in three weeks, preparing for a work conference in two weeks...in San Juan, Puerto Rico, (yes, that's right!) and packing healthy lunches each day for work.

For tomorrow, I have some delicious fruits (raspberries, strawberries sand blueberries) and a turkey sandwich on 7-grain bread..yummy!

This week I have some work events including an Information Session for prospective graduate students, registration for transfer students, and a presentation at a high school for parents and junior/senior high school students. Should be a busy week for me!

To the others heading back to work tomorrow...have a happy day!

My Word

My colleague/fellow blogger/good friend, Kathleen introduced me to this idea. The idea of choosing your word for the year. I've been thinking alot about this concept. The idea is to kinda-sorta live your life around your meaning and interpretation of this word, the word you choose. Last year, about mid way through 2008, I chose a word and the word was INSPIRE. I chose the word inspire because I truly felt inspired. I was inspired to be more, to be better, to live my life with purpose. I was on a journey to define my life purpose. I was taking on a new role as a Life Coach and I wanted to share this amazing feeling with others, and inspire others to feel good things. Happiness. Joy. Love. Fulfillment. Purpose. Hope.

There was a while there when I was suffering from what author and speaker Christine Hassler calls, the Expectation Hangover. I was feeling sadness, frustration, anger. It took me a very long time (about 3 months) to really move on from these feelings and get back on my path. My path to constantly move my life in a positive direction, to learn more and be more.

I have been considering my word for a few days now. There are, excuse me, were a few that were of serious consideration...love, purpose, passion, live, aspire. But there is one word, my word of 2009, that really, I believe encompasses all of these feelings I have inside. My word for 2009 is a word that will challenge me to do all the things I want to in a positive and peaceful manner. To believe in myself and appreciate the things in life that are precious. To remember that life is about the good and the bad. To be a better person, one that doesn't take life for granted and appreciates the beauty of life.

My word for 2009 is SIMPLIFY.
