So far...so good

It has been a wonderful summer so far. Being that Mother Nature robbed us of the month of June, we are forced to cram everything into July and August and hope for some additional sunny weather in September, otherwise known as Indian Summer.

What have I done thus far you ask...? Well I'll tell ya!

1. We bought a fire pit! Love this thing. Imagine sitting in your back yard with great friends, good wine and enjoying conversation and laughs. It is great!

2. We welcomed nephew #3 to the family, Nicholas James.

3. Celebrated my friend Michele's wedding. Let me tell you, she looked amazing. Picture perfect bride. So happy for her.

4. Beach. And beach some more.

5. A great fourth of July celebrated on the east end/north fork of Long Island.

6. Visited Breezy Point to celebrate my cousin Jen's 30th birthday party. Very fun. I really want to go back.

7. Visiting with my cousin Nicole who recently moved to Florida. Celebrating a brunch with the cousins. So great!

Special family time

8. And quite possibly the biggest highlight of my summer, so far, is being offered an amazing job opportunity. A position in career services that I have wanted for a very long time. Honored, excited, thrilled to be offered this opportunity!

This month we have some exciting things to look forward to...

1. Another wedding! A backyard wedding. I think it is going to be great!

2. Celebrating with friends.

3. A trip to Scituate, Massachusetts to the Butterworth home to celebrate my cousin Jill's 30th Birthday. I am sensing a commonality here...lots of my friends turning the big 3-0! Ahhh...I'm next!

4. Joining a book club. This should be fun.

So, all-in-all, here is what I think of the summer 2009 so far. Good times, good company, simple living, and lovely.

Having herself a good time

Hubby Highlight

The highlight of my Monday morning was waking up to a bright and beautiful sunny summer day, starting my 4-day work (and looking forward to enjoying 4-day work weeks for the rest of the summer), and a simple text from my hubby.

The text message said...

good morning babe have a good day love u

...and just like that, I fell in love all over again!

Father's Day in Heaven

Happy Father's Day to my Dad.

The special memories I carry with me...

His math skills.
His signature.
Tatoos.
His amazing giving to others.
Tow Trucks.
Charlie's Flatbed Service.
Nextel phones.
Jokes, funny ones.
Laps in the pool.
"Moe".
The car show in Atlantic City Valentine's weekend.
Riverhead Raceway.
Ice cream man.
Banana barge.
Longshore block parties.

Just to name a few. Needless to say, my dad was a great guy. He is surely missed. xo

Summer Lovin'

What are you looking forward to this summer...?

Me?

Well, I am looking forward to enjoying the simplicity of life. Taking in the bright, sunny days with sand in my toes and the smell of the ocean. I love going to the beach in the summer. I actually consider it a luxury living on Long Island so close to the beaches. Growing up five minutes from Robert Moses was truly a great thing! Packing a light lunch that includes a few hard-boiled eggs, a P.B. and J sandwich on fresh bread, and a piece of fruit sounds simple and perfect for a nice beach day. Pack the sunblock, my beach hat and sunglasses, a good book (or a few magazines) and a great, comfy beach chair and I'm set.

Other fun things to look forward to this summer include: mango Italian ices, a new nephew (due out in early August), Fridays off, my friends wedding (congratulations Michele and Al), singing karaoke, eating hot dogs, and enjoying chilly summer nights on the deck with my hubby and a glass of delicious Long Island wine. And that is just to name a few great things to look forward to.

Happy Summer!

Ashley, MA

My sister received her Master of Arts in Education for the gifted from The College of New Rochelle. I was invited to share in her excitement at Radio City Music Hall as she received her degree. And there is no place I would have rather been, than celebrating with my sissy!

She is an amazing and creative English teacher and such a hard worker. Her students LOVE her!

We celebrated in Central Park that day...

...and then we continued to celebrate over the weekend and had some delicious seafood on the water at a favorite of ours.

Congratulations to my sister, Ashley, on this wonderful accomplishment.
