A Great Day

Today was a great day and in honor of my great day, I wanted to share a great quote with you...

The road leading to a goal does not separate you from the destination; it is essentially a part of it. ~Charles DeLint

Love that.

My Commandments

As I search for my life purpose (which will take some time), it really boils down to being happy and the things in life that bring me happiness. Today one of the most exciting things was being introduced to Gretchen Rubin and her blog! She is a writer and author, and is currently working on The Happiness Project (http://www.happiness-project.com/) due to hit bookshelves in 2009.

I read her list of commandments and decided that I would come up with some of my own. I believe my list is complete, for now, but may evolve over time as I continue my journey. I invite you to consider a list of your commandments and sharing them.

My 12 Commandments...

1. Laugh often.

2. Let go and let God.

3. Smile.

4. Set smart goals...and achieve them.

5. Love much and with everything you have.

6. Speak up.

7. Never stop learning.

8. Be the best you can be.

9. Don't live with regret.

10. Guilt is wasted energy.

11. Think, but not too much.

12. Respect others.

Gretchen gives some great tips for starting a list of your commandments on her blog. Love the idea!

Loving Much

I love life.

I love living life.

I enjoy the art of living.

~Maya Angelou

My day was spent in the presence of family and friends as my godson, Thomas George received the sacrament of baptism.

Life is such an art, as Maya Angelou put it, and today's art was loving, bright, colorful, cheery, pleasant, and blessed.

A simple inspiration

A quote that is sticking with me today, that I want to share with you. It came from my new edition of Woman's Day magazine, which by the way has a great trademark tag line...Live Well Every Day. Love that.

"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen."

-Michael Jordan

Inspire

So I have this friend who has a word for the year and focuses on that word in all that she does. Even though we are more than half-way through the year, I have decided to adopt a word for 2008...Inspire.

To inspire is to produce a feeling or a thought that triggers emotion. In my life I inspire others to live their best life. I inspire others to think about and define their life purpose. I inspire others to set goals and achieve their goals. Has someone inspired you?

As a blogger I hope to give my readers information and resources regarding life and careers. I hope to inspire others to live life, and live it well. To laugh each day, and laugh out loud and often. To love much with every bone in your body. My message for the week is... to not let a day go by without feeling inspired by something or someone. Inspiration has no size or boundary. When you feel inspired it ignites your whole being. I challenge you to get past the stress of today, and smile. To tell someone special you love them and just what they mean to you. To hear something funny and laugh out loud. To do something meaningful, something inspiring, even if it is something small. I dare you...
